Marsilio Ficino writings on astrological medicine and herbs will be brought to life by this knowledgeable and experienced speaker
The great Renaissance superstar Marsilio Ficino is famed foremost for translating Plato, Plotinus and the Corpus Hermeticum, but he was also a magician: he practised magic and astrology. Drawing on varied magical and neoplatonic sources, Ficino advised friends on how to live well and healthily. Many, but not all, of his recommendations found expression in the Three Books on Life. In this talk, Ruth describes how his instructions may have been put into practice, using as evidence the diary written by the Renaissance artist Pontormo. Ficinoâs writings can also be adapted for use today, and Ruth will outline a coherent magical system for physical, emotional and spiritual health that can be gleaned from Ficino's books and letters.
