Headline debate

This new series of topical science debates in partnership with Channel Five, will give you the chance to discuss science in the headlines!

When science leaps out of the labs and into the headlines, it ’s probably safe to say that this is the time when we ’re most interested in, and concerned with, developments in science. When the front pages scream ‘Woman is carrying first cloned embryo ’, we’re left asking whether science is going too far, or a scoop like ‘Holy Grail in cancer found’ will spark us to question just how this news will help our relative ill in hospital.

Well rather than just ‘read all about it’, the Ri and Channel Five would like to invite you
to join scientists, journalists and politicians in our exciting new series of Headline Debates, where we ’d like you to discuss, debate and challenge the hottest new science that is dominating the news agendas. It ’s your chance to have a say on science when it is at its most exciting and controversial.

To ensure that the debate is lively and topical, panelists will be finalised a couple of weeks before the event. Topics and speakers will be announced on the Ri website www.rigb.org nearer the time. Or, if you would like to join our weekly email distribution list to be kept up-to-date with all the latest Ri information, please send your contact details to events@ri.ac.uk
