Steven Pippin speaks about contemporary debates in photography and his current exhibition at Siobhan Davies Studios.
Steven Pippin will talk about contemporary photography in light of its changing technologies, discussing the relationship between analogue and digital formats.
Pippin is currently exhibiting at Siobhan Davies Studios in Animated Environments Part 3, and at the event he will also be in conversation with the curator Charles Danby. The event will feature screenings of two of Pippin's films: the iconic 'Laundromat Locomotion' and the more recent 'Non Event'. Screenings will start from the earlier time of 6.30pm
Animated Environments Part 3 is the first solo show Pippin has held in the UK in 10 years. In the new and recent works on display, Pippin continues to push the limits of the photograph and photographic processes. Alongside modified cameras presented as objects, Steven Pippin includes works from his evolving and ongoing series Non Event. These photographs capture 'final images' before the destruction of the camera, as camera shutter and gun are fired simultaneously and a bullet penetrates both camera and film.
Steven Pippin's Lecture and Talk This event is part of South London Art Mapâs Last Fridays.
