The wilds of Central Asia are amongst some of the most mysterious and fascinating regions anywhere on earth.
The wilds of Central Asia are amongst some of the most mysterious and fascinating regions anywhere on earth. These are lands that still stir the imagination, where glittering palaces of turquoise and gold emerge like shimmering mirages from the desert plains and the call to prayer transports us back to a time of merchant caravans and nomadic invaders.
Wild Frontiers' Jonny Bealby (whose book 'Silk Dreams, Troubled Road' describes his 3000 km journey through this region) and Head of Operations, Marc Leaderman, who has travelled throughout Central Asia over the past 12 years, will be hosting the evening. Together they will offer an insight into not only all the wonders of the ancient Silk Road, but the unique cultures that have survived and flourished for 1000s of years in one of the most remote corners of the world.
Despite being neighbouring countries, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan are very different from each other in regards to landscape, environment and culture. While amazing travel destinations in their own right, crossing borders and combining countries offers the opportunity to truly explore the diversity of the region.
