Art historian Milo Beach introduces the album and explores the impact of Persia on the Mughal Empire.
The Gulshan Album, described as one of the world's greatest books, was originally assembled for the Mughal emperor, Jahangir. Its beautifully illustrated pages demonstrate both the international interests of the highly cosmopolitan Mughal court and the important role played by Jahangir in the development of Mughal painting.
