Between 1933 & 1939 Britain admitted over 70,000 Jews from across Europe fleeing the Nazi regime.


Press coverage of the time defines Britain as a haven of tolerance for Jews but the reality was strikingly different. This lecture shows the powerful rhetoric of Englishness which underscored it all
