Please Sir, I Want Some More! is the varied and flavoursome story of workhouse food which over the centuries included everything from nettles to cheesecake.


Peter Higginbotham is a writer and researcher best known for his extensive study of the workhouse and related institutions. His work includes the website www.workhouses.org.uk.

Please Sir, I Want Some More! is the varied and flavoursome story of workhouse food which over the centuries included everything from nettles to cheesecake. During the talk, Peter hopes to try his hand at cooking a dish for you to sample from the official Manual of Workhouse Cookery.
