Variable Stars: The Life of Caroline Herschel

Lecture discussing the work of Caroline Herschel (1750-1848) German-British astronomer and the sister of renowned astronomer Sir William Herschel.


Novelist and short story writer, Christina Koning, will discuss the subject of her most recent novel 'Variable Stars' about the 18C astronomer, Caroline Herschel (1750-1848) a Garman-British astonomer and sister of Sir William Herschel, with whom she worked throughout both of their careers. Her most significant contribution to astronomy was the discovery of several comets,particularly 35P/Herschel-Rigollet, which bears her name.
