How far do contemporary women artists identify with feminism?
Rebecca Fortnum is an artist and Reader in Fine Art at University of the Arts London and author of Contemporary British Women Artists: In Their Own Words, I B Tauris & Co Ltd, 2007. Fran Cottell is an artist whose work has been associated with the womenâs movement since the 1970âs. Her e-book, House: from Display to Back to Front is available from www.ktpress.co.uk.
This event accompanies the Beaconsfield exhibition Tamsyn Challenger: Monoculture (20 February â“ 13 April 2013)
Themes of habitual performance, viral infiltration and feminine identity link earlier forms of human control by pseudo-sexual torture with cultural homogenisation on a global scale.
Monoculture premiers new works developed by Tamsyn Challenger during the artistâs residency with Beaconsfield since June 2012.
