Series of four constitutive evening lectures in Salisbury Cathedral reflecting on what the New Testament might have to say to us about spirituality.
2013 Sarum Theological Lectures:
Encountering God with the Whole of Our Being
with Dr Paula Gooder
Spirituality is a word that is notoriously hard to define but it implies that when we encounter God we do so with our spirits. These lectures will explore not only what âspiritâ might mean in the New Testament but also what other relevant words like âmindâ, âsoulâ, âfleshâ, âheartâ and âbodyâ might mean and from them to reflect on what the New Testament might have to say about âspiritualityâ to us today.
Paula Gooder is a freelance writer and lecturer in biblical studies. She is canon theologian of Birmingham and Guildford Cathedrals, lay canon at Salisbury Cathedral, visiting lecturer at Kingâs College, London, associate lecturer at St Mellitus College, London, and theological adviser to the Bible Society. She is a reader in the Church of England and a member of General Synod.
