Building the Forth Pyramid - Magic and Art

Jesse speaks about planetary magic, renaissance symbolism in his Galvesto installation

In 2012, Brooklyn-based artist Jesse Bransford was invited to create an installation for the respected Galverston Artist Residency in Texas. They wrote “If ever there were an artist who could make transformative magic a reality it would be Bransford. Building off of nearly ten years of research, Bransford's drawings and numerical symbols transform the GAR gallery into a space charged with possibility, a three dimensional spell, an incantation you can move through.” In this presentation, Jesse Bransford unpacks the work of casting the spells – and spills – of this celebrated art project. He is a professor at NYU and a contributor to Abraxas Journal. This lecture is held in conjunction with I:MAGE Exhibition week.
