Alchemy's Citrinitas Stage

Paul Cowlan will talk us through the thirs stage of Alchemical transformation. Come and be enchanted!

Paul Cowlan

In this, the third talk in Paul Cowlan’s series The Alchemical Quartet, the nature of the ensuing third Air stage, Citrinitas, is examined. Often omitted from the 17th century onwards, or simply rolled together with the final stage of Rubedo, Citrinitas involves renewed, yellowing corruption of the reluctant albedo whiteness. This engaging slide lecture unpacks the symbols illustrating this stage, from manuscripts. We meet all sorts of strange imagery – Mercurius as fugitive slave, and the lunar goddess Diana fleeing stags, pursuing hounds and calling birds. Paul Cowlan has been practising spiritual alchemy for over twenty years, and is a popular speaker.
