Department of Law 'Law Matters' public debate


The United States of America is famous for its system of constitutional review- its Supreme Court of unelected judges who can strike down the laws of Congress. How is this justified? Is it popular? What does the future hold?

Risa Goluboff is the Justice Thurgood Marshall Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Virginia, visiting professor in LSE’s Department of Law, and author of The Lost Promise of Civil Rights.
