lectures on Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythology
HP Lovecraftâs Cthulhu mythos conjures images of strange pre-human ruins. In fact, the author was keenly interested in archaeology and ancient history, and used these to create specific dramatic effects in his work. Tonight James Holloway explores archaeological ideas in the Cthulho mthos, as reformulated in films, games and comics issued since the authorâs death. This lecture builds on ideas from the now-famed 2009 Treadwells Lecture. Archaeologist and Lovecraft buff Dr James Holloway studied archaeology at Cambridge University, where he received his doctorate, and returns to Treadwellsâ with a warm welcome.
