Music in Context: In Advertising

An analysis of pieces by Ravel and Saint-Saëns, which were composed within the context of advertising.

A consideration of classical music that has been created with advertising in mind. Professor Christopher Hogwood's lecture will be illustrated by live performances by a Royal Academy of Music chamber ensemble of Ravel's Introduction for harp, flute, clarinet and string quartet (1905) and Saint-Saëns' Fantaisie for violin and harp Op. 124.
