Anita Anand,will chair a panel discussion on Women in Democracy as part of the English-Speaking Union's contribution to Parliament Week
Anita Anand, presenter of BBC Radio 4âs Any Answers, will chair a panel discussion on Women in Democracy celebrating womenâs contribution to UK democratic life and exploring how we can better include womenâs voices. The distinguished panel will include Natalie Bennett (Leader of the Green Party), Laura Bates (founder of the Everyday Sexism project), Rosie Campbell (Lecturer in Politics at Birkbeck University), Rainbow Murray (Lecturer at Queen Mary University) and the Rt Hon Lord McNally Minister of State for Justice.
The discussion will be followed by the English Final of The John Smith Memorial Mace one of the largest and most prestigious university level debating competitions in the UK which will debate This House believes that all main political parties should implement a cross party scheme to adopt more all women short lists to increase womenâs representation in parliament until gender parity is reached
The John Smith Memorial Mace will bring students from Universities all over England for a weekend of Debating leading to this Grand Final on Sunday 24th November.
