Book launch of the new publication by Robert Maxwell, Emeritus Professor of Architecture at Princeton University.
With speakers Robert Maxwell, Adrian Forty and Eric Parry
WORK and Artifice books on architecture are pleased to invite you to a book launch for âAncient Wisdom and Modern Knowhow: Learning to Live with Uncertaintyâ, a new publication by Robert Maxwell, Emeritus Professor of Architecture at Princeton University.
Adept at moving between the examination of modern and contemporary architecture, art, literature and music, Maxwell is a respected scholar whose critical writings articulate the role architecture plays in contemporary culture. In âAncient Wisdom and Modern Knowhowâ, the author considers the notion of âdoubtâ encountered by the modern architect.
Robert Maxwell will speak on the occasion of the launch, with responses by Adrian Forty, Professor of Architectural History at The Bartlett, University College London, and Eric Parry, founding director of Eric Parry Architects. A reception and book signing will follow the speeches.
âAncient Wisdom and Modern Knowhowâ follows âA Few Years of Writing Interspersed with Some Facts of Lifeââ”Maxwellâs first publication with Artifice books on architecture in 2012. Both titles will be available at a special discount during the launch, of £20 (RRP £24.95) and £15 (RRP £19.95) respectively, or both for £30.
WORK is an independent gallery and even space that presents a varied interdisciplinary programme collaborating closely with innovators in the fields of architecture, art and design from around the world.
