AMBS architects will be joined by cultural figures to discuss the new designs for the planned library, as well as the implications of the building in establishing a new platform for Iraqâs cultural future.
The Mosaic Rooms are pleased to host the architects of AMBS to discuss the importance of the new designs for the planned library, as well as the implications of the building in establishing a new platform for Iraqâs cultural future. Friend of the practice Edwin Heathcote will be chairing the talk, other speakers are to be confirmed.
Saad Eskander, Director of the National Library of Iraq said with reference to the new library: âNew libraries have a notable role to play by promoting unconditional access to information, freedom of expression, cultural diversity, and transparency. By responding to the needs of Iraqâs next generations, the new library, we hope, will play an important role in the future of our country.â
AMBS Architects has established itself as one of Iraqâs foremost architectural firms and has been working in the region for 3 decades. Other live projects include healthcare facilities, a Spa, and a commission for an urban master plan in Baghdad. They were one of the participating architects of The Mosaic Rooms previous architectural exhibition HOME.
Edwin Heathcote is an architect and designer. He has been an architecture and design critic of The Financial Times since 1999, and is the author of books on architecture and design. He is a founder of the architecture hardware and ironmongery manufacturer Ize. Heathcote is also a trustee of the Blood Mountain Foundation in Budapest and architectural charity Open City in London.
