Covering 500 years, 38 patrons and several continents, this course is an examination of audacious acts of patronage and how they resulted in some of the finest art collections in the world.
Sigmund and Albrecht IV of Bavaria-Munich (1460â“1508)
Sigmund is remembered for his leniency, exotic birds, and singers in red fur gowns, as well as for commissioning some of the finest C15th artworks and buildings in Munich. Albrecht oversaw the construction of the large late Gothic new Church of Our Lady and, among other artworks, a funeral effigy made of pastry.
