A workshop exploring the use of Social Media in non-for-profit organisations
With respect to social media, people broadly fall into one of three categories:
1) We are devotees and spend vast amounts of time striving to be at the forefront of anything new emerging and are highly proficient users,
2) We know a little about social media, are reluctant users of it, and get others to manage it for us, while continuing to engage in activities in our own comfort zone
3) And there are those of us who won't touch it at all
For the first group, we will learn how to use the media with which they are familiar to better promote our organisations and messages. The second group can be encouraged to exploit social media to better effect and adapt our experience in traditional media to the new avenues. For the third group, knowing more about social media will enable them to make better decisions and hire the right kind of people and then be able to provide some kind of direction to give our organisations the correct level of management and the right kind of focus. Which are you?
The seminar session will be led by Matt Alder, a highly regarded futurist, experienced business leader and award-winning digital strategist. Matt is passionate about innovation and has a strong interest in how the digital revolution is changing the way companies communicate. He has written and spoken extensively on the future of recruitment and is a highly respected blogger with an international audience. Matt is also enthusiastically experiments with social media and a regularly comments on all aspects of the emerging field of âsocial recruitingâ.
