Covering 500 years, 38 patrons and several continents, this course is an examination of audacious acts of patronage and how they resulted in some of the finest art collections in the world.
One of George IV's best known examples of architectural patronage is the exotic Royal Pavilion in Brighton (a town he first visited in 1783) where it was said he liked to drink brandy and became too fat to climb the stairs. The other is Windsor Castle.
