Covering 500 years, 38 patrons and several continents, this course is an examination of audacious acts of patronage and how they resulted in some of the finest art collections in the world.
Queen Victoria collected or commissioned some of the greatest contemporary artists of her day including Minton, Frith, and Leighton. Albert's death led to her ordering the construction of monuments like the Albert Memorial and to altering significant jewellery commissions such as her daughter Princess Alice's wedding bracelet.
