Room&Book: What Makes A Book Rare Today?

What makes a book ‘rare’ in the 21st Century?

Historically, the most essential factors in determining rarity have been its importance, availability and the amount published. But in a world saturated with facsimiles, multiple distribution and publishing platforms, as well as sophisticated design software, do these characteristics still apply?
To accompany the inaugural Room&Book Art Book Fair, the ICA have invited an esteemed panel of speakers featuring Sven Becker, Louisa Riley-Smith and Emily King (chair) to discuss what defines a rare book today.
