Carl Turner in Conversation with Jay Merrick

Discussion addressing the statement that "small is a state of mind, not simply a scale we must graduate from" in relation to Carl Turner's architectural practice.

WORK and Artifice books on architecture are pleased to invite you to a conversation between Carl Turner, Founding Director of Carl Turner Architects and Jay Merrick, Architecture Critic of The Independent.

Taking as its starting point the statement that “small is a state of mind, not simply a scale we must graduate from on our way to the inevitable large”, the discussion will explore the practicalities and possibilities of a low-cost, high-impact ethos, and the reinsertion of intimacy and directness into both the architect-client relationship, and architecture itself.

The event celebrates the recent publication of Small: Thoughts and Projects. Carl Turner Architects by Artifice books on architecture, which will be available from PAPERWORK Bookshop at the special price of £12.50 (RRP £16.95) throughout the evening.

A drinks reception and book signing will follow the discussion.

Carl Turner: In Conversation is part of WORK’s Focus on Architecture events programme, which runs throughout June in conjunction with the London Festival of Architecture 2014.
