A lively look at the rise, fall and rebirth of London's docks from ancient history through roaring trade to modern redevelopment.
Our stories will be anchored in two specific docks which our speakers know intimately, St Katharine Docks near Tower Bridge and West India Dock, home to the Museum of London Docklands.
Georgina Young is Senior Curator of Contemporary History at the Museum of London.
Christopher West is author of new book The Story of St Katharine's and an expert on Charles Dickens.
This event is part of 'Londonist Afloat: Terrific Tales of the Thames', happening on the weekend of 20-21 September. This event is included in the programme of Totally Thames Festival 2014.
