Independent Dance Crossing Borders Talks 2014 - Meg Stuart
Independent Dance Crossing Borders talks 2014
The Crossing Borders talks feature UK and international practitioners, whose work understands movement and embodiment through a variety of different forms, and invites them to share their process and practice.
This yearâs series explores the different ways of working and thinking through the body. The programme will touch on themes such as contexts of art practice, self-censorship, contemporary psychoanalysis, and the wider concerns of how we live together.
Meg Stuart | 9 December | 7 - 8.30pm
Meg Stuart is an American choreographer and dancer who lives and works in Berlin and Brussels.
Interested in devising her own structure through which to develop artistic projects, Stuart founded Damaged Goods in Brussels in 1994.
Damaged Goods is a flexible, open structure that facilitates the production of highly diverse projects and interdisciplinary collaborations. Meg Stuart and Damaged Goods have worked on over thirty productions, ranging from solos (XXX for Arlene and Colleagues, soft wear) to large-scale choreographies (Visitors Only, Itâs not funny) and including site-specific creations (Highway 101), installations and improvisation projects (Auf den Tisch!, Crash Landing). Stuart strives to develop a new language for every piece in collaboration with artists from different creative disciplines â“ visual artists, choreographers, directors, musicians and designers, to name but a few.
