Third in a series of practically illustrated lectures, tracing the background to Rudolf Laban's principles and practice.
At the heart of Rudolf Laban's thinking was the belief that the dance artist and the dance researcher/scholar were one and the same. In this lecture Dr Valerie Preston-Dunlop explores the nexus between artistic practice and resarch, and how Laban's 1939 proposal for 'a kind of archive and an investigation department' as part of a movement and dance training centre, is now very much a reality.
