Family History: Finding Your Norwegian Ancestors

Find out how to discover details of your Norwegian ancestors, in the UK and in Norway.

Norwegians started migrating to the United Kingdom between 1865 and 1915. Some may have stayed in the UK, others moved on. Some Norwegians came to the UK as sailors but many came for other reasons. If you have Norwegian ancestors, you are probably wondering how to start tracing them, what sources are available in the UK and how you can find them in Norway. In this talk, Liv Marit Haakenstad helps us by looking at the Norwegian Digital Archives, and some other websites, where you can do research for free.

About the speaker
Liv is a genealogist, speaker and author, with extensive experience of genealogy research over the last 35 years. She focuses on research relating to emigration from Norway, especially searching for people that emigrated to the US or Canada.
