Two artists will take us on a tour of some of the exhibited works by the Cuban collective Los Carpinteros, as they engage in a dialogue that looks at art, politics and humour.
Artists Alex Schady and David Burrows both work extensively with collectives and collaboration in their practices, in ways that address the political and the satirical.
For this event these two artists will take us on a tour of some of the exhibited works by the Cuban collective Los Carpinteros, as they engage in a dialogue that looks at art, politics and humour.
Alex Schady is the Fine Art Programme Leader at Central Saint Martins for the BA and is co-founder of Five Years Gallery. In parallel to his own practice, he has worked collaboratively with Hadas Kedar since 2000. Recent projects include âRulersâ at Camden Arts Centre 2011, âMisguidedâ at Tate Modern 2012 and âBesame Muchoâ at Five Years Gallery 2013.
As well as establishing a solo art practice, David Burrows has often worked in collaboration, including with the artistsâ group BANK, Bob & Roberta Smith and DJ Simpson. Since 2005, David Burrows has been collaborating with Simon OâSullivan to produce the performance-fiction âPlastique Fantastiqueâ, through the production of events, films, writing, installations and artefacts. Burrows is a lecturer and the Head of Undergraduate Fine Art Media at the Slade School of Fine Art.
