Should Humanists Eat Animals? by Phil Walder

Phil argues that, apart from the moral questions about killing and eating animals, the best thing that each of us can do for the planet, is to become vegetarian.

As a Humanist, Phil believes in the 'Human Project' and is fascinated by the incredible ingenuity of our species. However, he doesn't believe that the future success of the human race should be at the expense of the other species that share this planet, and the health of our environment. He argues that, apart from the moral questions about killing and eating animals, the best thing that each of us can do for the planet, is to become vegetarian.

Phil has been a member of the BHA for 15 years and has been a vegetarian for 30 years. He's also been a member and a supporter of CLHG for many year.

He started his first business when he was 25 and has been avoiding real work ever since. He originally took a BSc in Environmental Science, but has also studied philosophy and politics.

Profit from our charity wine bar will go to Phil's chosen charity The Humane Society

All our talks are open to the general public and free to attend but we do rely on those who can, to make a donation of what they can afford, to cover the costs of room, equipment hire and help keep our talks free to all. Please give generously so we can continue with this policy.
