This free Saturday lecture led by Huw Price looks at William Lawrence, a surgeon at 19th century Bethlem.
In 1822, Bethlemâs surgeon was dismissed for disseminating the heretical hypothesis that thought was a function of the brain rather than of an immaterial principle. Huw Price addresses the circumstances surrounding his dismissal and re-appointment.
