THE COURSE offers art history lectures, guided museum visits and London walks.
Symbolic, illuminating, awe inspiring â“ the mastery of light has been a vital tool of the western artist. This course, five lectures and gallery visits, looks at such forms as stained glass, the natural light of Constable, the brooding emotion of Rubens and the reflections of Impressionism in an attempt to understand the fascination of light and its immense possibilities for the artist.
ALL THAT GLISTENS â¦
In this lecture, the gold of medieval altarpieces or the use of light itself in the form of photography, will show artists use materials to capture, mediate and explore our relationship with the subject. We look at materials from gold to glass to mosaic to understand how the medium affects the message.
