Dr Shane Legg will bring us up to date with recent advances in AI
Every day now we see articles in the media about AI. What we read could scarcely be less consistent. Some predict impending catastrophe and doom, others foresee a utopian future where there will be so much wealth that nobody will work any more while yet others say that it is all a load of nonsense as real intelligence in machines is not going to happen for a long time. This talk will review the history of AI and explain the shift in approach that has caused much of the current wave of excitement.
