'A face is nothing without its history.'
Winner of the Saltire Fiction Book of the Year 2017, Angus Peter Campbell will be launching the new paperback edition of Memory and Straw, his poignant dystopian novel that scrutinises the relationship between humanity and technology.
Gavin and Emma live in Manhattan. Sheâs a musician. He works in Artificial Intelligence. Heâs researching human features to make more realistic mask-bots â“ non-human âcarersâ for elderly people. When his enquiry turns personal heâs forced to ask whether his own life is an artificial mask. Delving into family stories and his roots in the Highlands of Scotland, he embarks on a quest to discover his own true face, âuniquely sprung from all the faces that had beenâ.
An accomplished poet, journalist, broadcaster and actor, Angus Peter Campbell has written extensively in both English and his native Gaelic. He has won such awards as the Bardic Crown for Gaelic Poetry, the Creative Scotland Award for Literature and two Saltire Society Awards, the Book of the Year in 2004 and Fiction Book of the Year in 2017.
