A series of evening presentations and one-day masterclasses, exploring contemporary approaches to photography, lens-based media and new technology.
Pavilionâs programme, in collaboration with Huddersfield University and Leeds College of Art and Design, presents both the excellence and diversity that exists in contemporary lens-based arts practice today.
Each artist will present an overview of their work on a Tuesday evening followed by a one-day masterclass, which will explore the artistsâ practice and process in depth.
Townsendâs dream-like photographs and videos have been shown nationally and internationally. Her recent video works create meditative spaces, which explore the borderline between fantasy and ârealityâ.
The masterclass will be a practical exploration of the artistic process of making short, non-narrative looped films. By going through the process of building concepts and planning a visual strategy for location filming, participants will work on individual pieces and assist in the production of work being made by other participants. There will be an emphasis on group discussion and collaboration, and a chance to look at, and talk through, the work that has been made.
