Firefighters of Belfast: The Fire Service During the Troubles

The years 1969 to 1994 were particularly difficult for Northern Ireland, and what would become known as ‘The Troubles’ would test the firefighters of Belfast to their limits.

The years 1969 to 1994 were particularly difficult for Northern Ireland, and what would become known as ‘The Troubles’ would test the firefighters of Belfast to their limits.
Documenting events from the firefighters’ perspectives, former Firemaster of Edinburgh Brian Allaway tells the stories from the front line of firefighters working during the Troubles years in Northern Ireland, including his own personal experiences.
With first hand accounts from the people who lived through these events, Brian provides a record of the people who served their country through one of its bleakest moments in history.
