Pedagogy & Inclusion: a critique of outcomes-based research and evaluation

Dr Jennie Henley (Royal College of Music) explores ways that socio-musical interactions can be viewed, evaluated and analysed to avoid a research focus on programme outcomes alone.

Inclusive music opportunities are often funded on the basis of pre-determined outcomes stated at the point of application. However, anyone who has worked in ‘inclusive’ projects will have experienced numerous types of negative outcome, yet these kinds of outcomes are rarely reported.

Dr Jennie Henley (Royal College of Music) explores ways that socio-musical interactions can be viewed, evaluated and analysed to avoid a research focus on programme outcomes alone.
