Soundcamp 2019

Join SoundCamp's annual sleep out at an urban nature reserve in Rotherhithe with Herbert Girardet, Platform, Jessie Brennan, Matt Parker, Dan Stowell (Warblr) and Ella Finer.

Soundcamp is a an annual micro festival of sound and ecology, with a hub at the UK's first urban ecology park, near Stave Hill in Rotherhithe.

The London soundcamp is a a way to mark International Dawn Chorus Day, and a forum for thinking and discussion about sound in the urban environment.

Beyond familiar terms such as nature sounds and noise pollution, sound can be heard as a complex and unstable element in cities - a vital part of the way we experience our surroundings, and a key indicator of the diversity of urban ecologies - environmental, cultural and political.

SC6 explores these possibilities over the first weekend in May through walks, workshops, performances and new site responsive art works:

- Vision, a new work by Jessie Brennan, will be on Stave Hill from 25 April.
- Platform's iconic tent will make a return to the Ecological Park after 30 years. It will be pitched over the Soundcamp weekend as 'The Tent that Can Hear', for screenings, exhibition, and discussion.
- Sounds Interrupted, by Jessie Brennan and SC will be installed at London Bridge Station (Reception, junction of St Thomas and Bermondsey St) from 26 April.
- The long form radio program: Reveil (SC with Locus Sonus, Wave Farm, Resonance Extra) will relay live sounds from a network of streamers, making a 24hr loop of the earth at daybreak from 5AM Saturday 4 May.

Camp out in the Stave Hill meadow (places limited), join a dawn chorus walk with ornithologists on Sunday morning, or take part in an open discussion on The Acoustic Commons, led by Ella Finer.
