Taking an interdisciplinary approach that combines archaeology, architectural history, liturgy and ecclesiastical politics, his conclusions are radical and striking


David Stocker, English Heritage. IMS lecture series in association with Yorkshire archaeological society, revisits a question pioneered here in Leeds in the earlier 20th century by Alexander Hamilton-Thompson – the rationale for a particular kind of parish church tower that appears shortly after the Norman Conquest.
