A Celebration of Grasses

This meeting is to mark the retirement of Steve Renvoize and will celebrate the grass family in all its diversity.

A CELEBRATION OF GRASSES marks the retirement of Steve Renvoize after 41 years’ service on the staff of the Kew Herbarium, the last 15 as Head of the Grass Section. Steve is co-author of Genera Graminum, the essential handbook for all grass taxonomists, and has authored many floristic accounts and taxonomic and anatomical papers. His contributions cover the whole breadth of this large and important plant family and he has extensive fieldwork experience in several continents. This meeting will celebrate the grass family in all its diversity, to reflect Steve’s broad interests and experience.

Presentations will cover a variety of grass-related themes including taxonomy, anatomy, molecular systematics, horticultural/economic uses and grasses in art. Speakers already confirmed include Peter Linder, Bryan Simon, Anne Farrer, Steve Renvoize, Jacques Cayouette, Sylvia Phillips and Tom Cope. A full timetable for this first day will be available on the Kew and Linnean Society websites.
