Gems from Life

Free talk to celebrate 100 years of the City Art Gallery (now Bristol's Museum & Art Gallery)


An introduction to gem materials of plant and animal origin - for example, amber, ivory and coral - examining some of their past and present uses in jewellery and the decorative arts. Imitations, origins, conservation status and trade bans will also be touched upon.
