Following on from last year, this series of lectures traces the historical development of mathematics in the thousand years from Islamic Baghdad.
Block designs are used in agriculture in connection with the planting of wheat. But earlier they arose in the so-called âschoolgirls problemâ. What are block designs, what is the schoolgirls problem, and what is their connection with geometry and music?
