Pier Playwrights conference

Pier Playwrights 3rd conference looks at ways to create new writing partnerships in the south east.

Pier Playwrights' third regional conference, in association with writernet, WOULD LIKE TO MEET 2, will be held at Chichester Festival Theatre (Minerva Studio) on Wednesday 12 October.

The event draws together writers with everyone with a professional interest in new creative writing in the South East. Speakers and guests include: Claire Malcolm (New Writing North), Ruth MacKenzie (Chichester Festival Theatre), Hanna Slattne (Dramaturg Network/Tinderbox Theatre), Simon Fanshawe (Writer and Broadcaster), Angharad Rees (Script Cymru) and many more.
The conference will have two major focus points:
WRITERS UNITED – a debate about the benefits and pitfalls of a regional organisation serving creative writers of all media and genre. The debate will be led by Claire Malcolm, director of the UK’s only organisation that does just that.
Joined up reading and dramaturgy – A discussion to explore, and inform, ways everyone professionally involved with reading, developing and presenting new work could benefit by co-operation and joined up thinking.
The event is a great way of meeting other professionals with an interest in new creative writing in the region.
Pier Playwrights’ previous conferences have been “Hugely enjoyable”, “Incredibly useful”, “Very inspiring”, “Well organised”, “Sharply focused”, “Great value and, what’s more, the lunch is good too”. (That’s what previous delegates have said) The, 2005 day, WOULD LIKE TO MEET 2, will be no less!
