Alan Stanley will look at the state of dentistry in England and the city of Leeds and also examine the needs of patients in the period 1850 – 1906.
He will describe how individual Leeds dentists responded to the challenges and be asking ‘why did things happen’ as much as ‘how did they happen’. Dr Stanley is a general dental practitioner in Leeds whose MPhil was on the early history of Leeds Dental School, founded in 1904
