Isambard Kingdom Brunel

A Celebration of the Man and his Engineering

Isambard Kingdom Brunel is one of the most important figures of 19th-century Britain, one who exemplified the spirit of the Victorian age with his ground-breaking achievements in all aspects of engineering – from ship design to bridge-building and railway-building. In this, the 200th anniversary year of his birth, we re-examine the man, his engineering accomplishments and his legacies.
