e7arts in conjunction with the University of East Londonâs MA Art in Architecture programme will be holding a forum on site specificity.
The forum will be an opportunity to open up the notion of the site-specific so that we might begin to re-examine contemporary artistic practices across a broad range of disciplines; from public art and architecture to communities and performance.
We have invited guest speakers who will be talking about their work:
Alison Marchant was commissioned as the Corporate Artist for Newham in 2000. For a period of almost a year the artist engaged with over 500 local residents through conversations, and interviews focusing upon, and selecting family photographs.
Paula Roush is a transdisciplinary artist whose work addresses public culture and urban space. Paula is the founder of msdm [msdm.org.uk] a research platform dedicated to mobile strategies of display and mediation whose projects explore emerging media in context including para-architecture, online bots, electronic games and electronic tagging.
Matthew Tickle is a Mattâs Gallery artist, with a number of awards and one person shows in Britain and Europe, and who published an artistâs book in 2000. He also teaches on the Art in Architecture programme at UEL and will be talking about his project What the eye can't see, the heart can't grieve for that took place at Queen Mary, University of London.
