Reyner Banham Memorial Lecture

Peter Reyner Banham was a renowned design and architecture critic.The 18th memorial lecture is 'Reyner Banham and Photography'.


Peter Reyner Banham (1922-1988) was a renowned design and architecture critic and has been regarded as one of the first design historians. The 18th memorial lecture, Reyner Banham and Photography will be given by Professor Mark Haworth-Booth, former senior curator of photographs at the V&A. Reyner Banham was well aware of the power and omnipresence of photography in twentieth century culture. He also gave considerable thought to the role of photography in defining and projecting Modernism. The lecture will also survey photographic portraits of Banham and his perceptive writings on the photographs of others.
