Creative Cyborgs

“Computers don’t create computer animation any more than a pencil creates pencil animation. What creates computer animation is the artist.” John Lasseter, Executive Vice President, Creative, Pixar. But just how much is computing influencing creativity

As computers become an increasingly significant part of our imaginative and physical being, visitors will come face-to-face with natural born cyborgs as the impact of computer technology on creativity is explored. This event is in conjunction with LCACE, Goldsmiths College, Birkbeck, University of Sussex, CAS and Blip.

Katrina Nilsson, Events Manager at the Dana Centre and Science Museum says: “Robots have long left the pages of science fiction and are fast becoming reality.

“While Honda is busy developing Asimo - one of the world’s most advanced humanoid robots - at the same time, an American company has just launched details of BigDog – a new military robotic-aid.

“The Dana Centre aims to explore the most exciting subjects of contemporary and controversial science and technology, and robotics is certainly one of the most pioneering areas around.”
