Lord May of Oxford will present this year's CaSE Annual Distinguished Lecture, addressing the question of science policy followed by questions and discussion.
Robert May holds a professorship jointly in the Department of Zoology, Oxford University and at Imperial College, London. Born and educated in Australia, he has also held professorships in Physics at Sydney University and in Zoology at Princeton University. He has made his home in the UK where he has been president of the Royal Society as well as Chief Scientific Advisor to the Government. An entertaining and passionate speaker, one of his key interests is the causes and consequences of plant and animal extinction.
The Campaign for Science and Engineering
(CaSE) is a pressure group set up to improve the scientific health of the UK. Our objective is to communicate to Parliament and the nation as a whole the economic and cultural importance of scientific and technological research and development, and the vital need for the funding of this research by Government and industry. ZSL is a member of CaSE.
The lecture is a free event, but booking is
essential and only ticket holders will gain
entry. The lecture will be followed by a
reception with wine and canapés. Tickets for the reception are priced at £9 for CaSE and/or ZSL Members or £18 for all others.
