The expanding third sector is trendy, but is its growth good for society? At a national level Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) try to fill the cracks in society, or so Anglo-American society believes. At a global level, NGOs have a problematic relationship with markets and governments. What is the appropriate role for NGOs in a multi-national context?.
